Jurassic World is a 2015 American science fiction adventure film and the fourth installment of the Jurassic Park series. There have been many dinosaurs in the Jurassic world. You may have seen some of them in the first three Jurassic movies, such as the terrible Tyrannosaurus, the vicious velociraptor, the giant Brachiosaurus and the mild Triceratops. And Indominus Rex, is a new monster in Jurassic World that combines multiple dinosaur genes. Also, the huge body of the dinosaur Mosasaurus in the water makes people feel very shocked.
Right before the sequel, titled Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom releasing in June 2018, let’s have a review on the dinosaurs appeared in Jurassic World, 2015.
Indominus rex is a new creature in the Jurassic world. It is created by combining the genetic properties of various species, including Tyrannosaurus, Velociraptor, Carnotaurus, Giganotosaurus, Majungasaurus, Rugops and Therizinosaurus as well as modern animals such as cuttlefish, tree frogs and pit snakes. It is the big boss of this movie.
2.Velociraptor, late Cretaceous
High IQ and high mobility make Velociraptor a perfect killing machine. Velociraptor played long hours in Jurassic World. It is no less impressive than the protagonist Tyrannosaurus rex and Spinosaurus. Its name comes from the word raptor and Velociraptor in Latin means swift robber. In reality, the size of Velociraptor is not as large as it is in the movie. It is only half an adult’s height standing upright. According to recent research, it is likely to be covered with feathers.
3.Tyrannosaurus rex, late Cretaceous
Tyrannosaurus Rex, a type of Tyrannosauridae, is the most powerful predator in the late Cretaceous period. Tyrannosaurus rex has appeared in every Jurassic Park movie. It is up to 12 meters in length, 5.5 meters tall and weighing 12 tons. It is mainly distributed in North America and has close relatives in Asia. It is easy to make people excited and tearful when hearing its bright roar.
4.Mosasaurus, Late Cretaceous
This carnivorous aquatic dinosaur ruled the ancient oceans, hunting fish, reptiles, birds, and even great white sharks. It grows to 60 feet long and weighs 5 tons. This creature played a key role in this movie.
5.Stegosaurus, Late Jurassic Period
In Jurassic World, it appeared as background or passers-by. Studies have shown that the bone plate on its back is used to regulate body temperature, and the spur on the tail is the real weapon.
6.Parasaurolophus, late Cretaceous
Parasaurolophus, a type of Hadrosaurus, makes a sound by the crown connecting with the nasal cavity. Scientists can now recover its sound. In the movie, they live in groups and often operate with groups of Hadrosaurus like Edmontosaurus.
7.Triceratops, late Cretaceous
Triceratops is the largest type of Ceratops. Its horns are solid bones and have strong destructive power. It is one of the strongest Ornithischia dinosaurs in the Cretaceous period. An adult Triceratops can defeat an adult Tyrannosaurus Rex.
8. Gallimimus, late Cretaceous
It first appeared in Jurassic Park 1 and was hunted by Tyrannosaurus Rex. The scenes appearing in Jurassic World are the same as Jurassic Park 1! The latest study found that Gallimimus are feathered and larger than the one in the movie.
9. Pachycephalosaurus, late Cretaceous
Pachycephalosaurus is about 5 meters long, and it walks with two stout hind legs. It has a swollen head which seems to have a giant tumor. But its head does not seem to be used to defend against predators, but rather to fight inside.
10. Apatosaurus, Late Jurassic Period
You may have seen Apatosauruses in previous Jurassic Park movies, and you will see them again in Jurassic World. The herbivorous brontosaurus, meaning “deceptive lizard.” It is longer than the two school buses in adulthood and weighed similarly to four African elephants.
11.Edmontosaurus, late Cretaceous
Edmontosaurus is a kind of Hadrosaurus. They are huge and like to live in groups. Their appearance is not as outstanding as Parasaurolophus. In the movie, they appear in the field, and you have to observe carefully to find them.
12. Ankylosaurus, Late Cretaceous Period
Ankylosaurus is armored dinosaur armed with a full body. They have appeared for a few seconds in Jurassic Park 3, and Ankylosaurus has seen more time in the Jurassic world.
13. Dilophosaurus, Early Jurassic Period
Dilophosaurus is carnivore dinosaur in Early Jurassic Period. In reality, they have 6 meters in length and 2.4 meters in height. But Dilophosaurus was reduced in size in the movie and increased the ability to spray venom. They appeared in the form of a hologram in the Jurassic World, and their appearance is to open a double fan to spray poison, scaring the Velociraptor off.
14. Pteranodon, late Cretaceous
The main features of Pteranodon are a crown on the head, a slender mouth, and no tail. We hope that in the future movies there will be Quetzalcoatlus with a wingspan of 15 meters or more.
15. Dimorphodon, Early Jurassic Period
The early pterosaurs had long teeth for puncture in the former jaw and had smaller fangs at the back. In the movie, Dimorphodon has a long tail and a big mouth who is particularly ugly.
The Tyrannosaurus first appeared in Jurassic Park, 1993 may have shocked everyone. However, after 25 years, people get used to seeing more realistic dinosaurs created by more mature special effects in cinemas such as King Kong and Godzilla. We have not been so excited about monsters. And the failure of Jurassic Park 3 made the Jurassic Park series silent for 14 years.
When first heard that Jurassic World was going to release, there was also a slight worry that the story would no longer appeal to everyone. But Jurassic World continuously broke the historical record of the box office. But, in many people’s heart, the new movie may never exceed the series of Jurassic Park. We wish Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom can bring us some surprise.
