Opened in 1977, the Sudwala Dinosaur Park is situated 35 km outside Mbombela in Mpumalanga Province, South Africa.
The Museum can be found next to the Sudwala Caves and is set in a lush sub-tropical forest garden, where monkeys and red-breasted cuckoos abound. New is a magnificent ‘viewing deck’ from where the Rainforest Valley can be observed – with occasional glimpses of wild chacma baboons.
On display are life size models of prehistoric animals. These include Dinosaurs, prehistoric mammals, prehistoric man, ancient reptiles and amphibious reptiles. Also on display are live Nile Crocodiles, not much changed from their ancient relatives. Life-size dinosaur models, the models of the Cape Quagga and Cape Lion and Collenia fossils are the highlights of the museum.
This Park cum Museum makes a great outing for kids and parents, both exciting and educational. Plenty of photo opportunities as visitors can walk right up and touch the models!
Apart from that, visitors can find a shop, where to buy curios and tickets for the park.
The exquisite park comes alive with the various forms and models that depict the development of life in different ages. If you like dinosaurs and prehistoric animals, this is the place to go. More information about the museum visit http://www.dinosaurpark.co.za/.
